Traditional Hummus
A snack that is amazingly simple, delicious, and nutritious.
Cal‑a‑Vie Traditional Hummus
Yields 2 cups
You will be amazed at how good this traditional hummus tastes despite how simple the ingredients are. Our philosophy is pretty basic: If you start with fresh, high-quality ingredients, all you have to do is get out of the way and let them shine.
2 cups garbanzo beans, cooked (If using canned, drained)
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 garlic cloves
¼ cup tahini
3 tablespoons water
¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
¼ teaspoon cayenne
In a food processor, combine all the ingredients. Puree until the hummus is smooth. If the hummus is too thick, add water, a tablespoon at a time, until reaching the desired consistency. Adjust the seasoning with additional salt to taste. Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 3-5 days.
