The Benefits of Creatine: Strength, Energy & Cognitive Support
Discover the benefits of creatine for strength, energy, and cognitive function, along with a refreshing “Creatini” mocktail recipe to support your wellness routine.
In the ever-evolving world of wellness, certain nutrients stand the test of time. Supported by decades of research and consistently delivering meaningful benefits, Creatine is one such compound. While often associated with athletic performance, creatine plays a far more expansive role in supporting energy, strength, and even cognitive health.
Creatine is a naturally occurring compound synthesized in the body from three amino acids: arginine, glycine, and methionine. It is primarily stored in skeletal muscle, with smaller amounts found in the brain and other tissues. Approximately 95% of the body’s creatine resides in muscle, where it is used to rapidly regenerate ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the body’s primary energy currency. This process is especially important during periods of high energy demand—such as strength training, movement, and even moments of mental exertion.
While the body produces creatine endogenously, it is also obtained through dietary sources, most notably red meat and seafood. However, many individuals, particularly those following plant-forward or lower-protein diets, may not consume optimal amounts through food alone. This is where thoughtful supplementation can offer meaningful support.
From a physical standpoint, creatine is widely recognized for its ability to enhance strength, power output, and muscle recovery. By increasing the availability of quick energy within muscle cells, creatine allows for improved performance during short bursts of activity and supports greater training adaptations over time. For women, this can translate to improved lean muscle development, metabolic health, and overall resilience.
Beyond its well-established benefits for physical performance, creatine is increasingly being studied for its role in cognitive function. The brain, much like muscle, relies heavily on ATP for energy. Emerging research suggests that creatine supplementation may support mental clarity, reduce cognitive fatigue, and promote overall brain health—particularly during periods of stress, sleep deprivation, or high cognitive demand.
Creatine may also offer supportive benefits across the lifespan. In women, it has been explored for its role in supporting muscle preservation, bone health, and energy levels, particularly during times of hormonal transition. Its ability to support cellular energy makes it a valuable tool not only for performance, but for foundational vitality.

When taking creatine, space it 1-2 hours from any caffeine source that provides more than 200mg of caffeine. You can purchase our recommended creatine products like the Thorne Creatine powder or the Arrae Creatine Gummies directly on our website.
