BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
The Shortest Packing List You'll Ever Keep
Half of what a spa week usually asks you to carry, we have already laid out for you.
WHAT TO BRING
Pack lightly; the estate has considered the rest.
There is a particular kind of ease that begins the moment you decide not to overpack. Cal‑a‑Vie Health Spa is small and homey by design, and our days move between the vineyard trail, the treatment room, the saltwater pool, and the long dinner table. You will spend most of it in soft layers, and we provide the robe, the jacket, the slippers, and the rain gear that carry you through the rest.
The climate helps. Seven miles inland from the Pacific, our corner of northern San Diego County is gently Mediterranean, averaging around 72 degrees through most of the year. Bring comfortable clothes you can move in, a swimsuit or two, and shoes for the morning hills. Leave the rest of the suitcase at home. Daily laundry service means the little you carry goes further than you'd think.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
Already Waiting in Your Room
Some things you simply should not have to pack. So you won't.
In every villa and suite you'll find a jacket for cool mornings, a robe for the hours between treatments, bath shoes, and bedroom slippers set out and ready. When the coastal weather turns, rain gear is provided too, so a passing shower never asks anything of your own wardrobe.
We also provide daily laundry service for your personal things, which is the quiet reason you can pack for far fewer days than you'll stay. Wear a favorite set to the trail in the morning; find it clean and folded again before you need it. It is a small courtesy that changes how light a week can feel.
WHAT TO BRING
Comfortable Layers, and Shoes for the Hills
A short, honest list for the days ahead.
Bring your own workout wear and athletic shoes for fitness classes, and a sturdier pair of closed-toe shoes for the morning hike through the vineyard hills, which for many guests becomes the highlight of the week. Add one or two swimsuits for the pool and water classes, plenty of socks, and comfortable layers you can add and shed as the day warms and cools.
Pack your personal toiletries and any medication, sunscreen, and a hat. For late-fall and winter stays, tuck in gloves and a warmer layer for the early hills. Evenings at the table are relaxed and unhurried, though you may like something a touch more polished for our wine-tasting evenings. Beyond that, less is genuinely more here.
A FEW PRACTICALITIES
Small Questions, Gently Answered
What will the weather be like?
Our corner of North San Diego County is gently Mediterranean, averaging around 72 degrees for much of the year. The July high sits near 80, while a January morning can dip into the 50s, so a warm layer is welcome for late-fall and winter stays.
Do I need to bring a robe or slippers?
No. Jackets, robes, bath shoes, and bedroom slippers are set out in your room, and rain gear is provided as well. Bring your own workout wear, swimsuits, and shoes for hiking and fitness, and we handle the rest.
Is there laundry service?
Yes. We provide daily laundry service for your personal laundry, which means you can pack for far fewer days than the length of your stay.
What time should I plan to arrive?
Please check in any time after 1:00 pm on arrival day, and plan your departure before 11:00 am. We provide complimentary transportation to and from San Diego International Airport, and will collect private-flight guests from Carlsbad / Palomar Airport.
